Staff Accountant

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing and stable organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while helping maintain accurate financial records and supporting business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.

• Support audits and respond to requests from internal and external auditors.

• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Assist with special projects and ad hoc accounting requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting setting.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.

• Experience with general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with month-end close and budgeting/forecasting.

• Prior exposure to AP, AR, or fixed assets.

• CPA or CPA track preferred but not required.

• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or service-based environment is a plus.

• Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
