Marketing/Social Media Intern

The Rockford Rivets are seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a Marketing/Social Media Intern for the upcoming season, providing hands-on experience in a collegiate sports environment. The social media/marketing interns will work closely with the promotions and video production teams and are required to work all home games (36), along with any additional events assigned throughout the season. The Marketing/Social Media interns will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Social Media. This summer internship program runs from mid-May to late August.

Please note: This internship is unpaid, and candidates must be actively enrolled in a college or university program that allows them to receive academic credit for the internship.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide social media coverage across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok, helping maintain a consistent and engaging presence throughout the season.
• Work with other social media interns to create a content calendar for all social platforms and then execute and analyze that plan.
• Create game-day content featuring player arrivals, warmups, fan experiences, celebrations, highlights, promotions, and behind-the-scenes moments.
• Capture mascot appearances, community engagement, and other fan-focused moments that showcase the team experience.
• Stay up to date on social media trends across platforms.
• Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Social Media to develop and execute digital media initiatives that support the team's brand and marketing goals.
• Attend player/mascot/organization appearances in the community and take the lead in gathering social content at these events
• Assist with stadium set-up and clean up, both before and after the season and individual games.
• Will be required to work office/stadium hours on non-game days. All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Current college student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, media, or a related field.
• Eligible to receive college academic credit for the internship.
• Interest in social media, content creation, sports, marketing, public relations, or communications.
• Familiar with TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook.
• Basic experience with video editing using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar programs is a plus.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting a certain deadline.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, live event environment.
• Maintain a professional and positive representation of the organization when interacting with players, coaches, sponsors, and fans.
• Ability to work on-site during regular office hours, as well as gamedays, nights, weekends, and matchdays.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment such as sports, news, or live events is a plus.
• A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to collaborate in a creative environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail.
