Department Overview The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology is a world‑leading neuroscience department that integrates discoveries at the molecular, anatomical, and physiological levels to develop new treatments for neurological diseases. The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at UCI School of Medicine focuses on biomedical discoveries and translational medicine, engaging in innovative research, training, and teaching in microbiology and molecular genetics. Both departments provide faculty research opportunities, training programs for undergraduate and graduate students, and outreach functions. Your Role on the Team Under general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the incumbent independently evaluates and processes requisitions for the departments of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and Anatomy & Neurobiology. Purchase transactions cover a wide variety of research and office materials, laboratory supplies, services, and equipment, often of a technical and specialized nature. Procurement responsibilities include identifying potential vendors, obtaining quotations, evaluating proposals, coordinating with Purchasing and Risk Services for orders in excess of $5000, and resolving issues related to order, delivery, returned goods, and billing. Purchasing duties also involve maintaining accurate and complete supporting documentation per campus guidelines, reviewing, editing, and approving purchase requisitions initiated by faculty and staff, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with department and university policy. The incumbent serves as the Department Buyer in UCIBuy+, acts as a liaison for purchasing and accounts payable issues, and interacts with faculty, staff, campus purchasing, vendors, accounts payable, and department administration, processing a high volume of daily requests while maintaining official department and university accounting and purchasing records.
