Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I Clay County is seeking a dedicated Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I to join our team. This is an opportunity to represent the State of Missouri in criminal cases while gaining invaluable courtroom experience in a supportive and professional environment. In this role, you'll be at the heart of the criminal justice process, handling a wide variety of cases and responsibilities, including: Reviewing cases and determining appropriate charges. Represent the State in all phases of the criminal process, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and docket calls. Preparing and presenting cases at preliminary hearings, motion hearings, and trials. Work closely with law enforcement, victims, and witnesses to ensure justice is served. The ideal candidate has a Juris Doctor (JD) and license to practice law in Missouri and is Member in good standing with the Missouri Bar. They have a strong knowledge of criminal law, trial techniques, rules of evidence, and procedure, excellent communication skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure, a commitment to fairness, integrity, and public service, and preferably at least one year of related legal experience. The employee will receive an annual salary, DOE, along with a benefits package that includes two defined benefit retirement plans fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 4% contributed.
