Transportation ManagerArbor Acres Winston Salem - Winston Salem, NC 27104OverviewSalary Range $20.75 - $23.50 HourlyDescriptionMedical Transportation SupervisorPosition DescriptionSupervise and assist with transportation of Arbor Acres' residents to medical appointments on campus and in the City of Winston Salem. Coordinate transportation for hospital discharges through social workers. Supervise staff and volunteer drivers and escorts to meet daily transportation schedule needs. Perform on campus driver reviews with Arbor Acre vehicles for volunteers and staff that are responsible for transporting residents. Maintain records and distribute data as requested.Status Non ExemptJob RelationshipsReports to the Director of Continuing Care.Assignments received from Vice-President of Health Services.Nature of supervision received: General supervision from Vice-President of Health Services.Position(s) supervised: Medical Transportation Assistant, ELITE staff functioning as drivers, Volunteer drivers and escorts.Interaction with: Staff, residents, residents' families, visitors, public, physician office staff.Ability to communicate: verbal, written, emails, different data bases, direct/indirect from residents, residents' families, physician office staff.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTake transportation needs from residents and staff and create a daily transportation schedule.Coordinate all appointments with doctors' offices and clinics. Check with all Medical Unit Secretaries each day to ensure that all appointments are scheduled for the next day.Schedule additional drivers when needed and schedule all escorts when family is unable to accompany resident.Assist in driving residents to and from medical and other health related appointments.Assists residents into and out of vehicles and into and out of the office of the facility serving the resident.Represents the Continuing Care Department in all interactions with residents. Offers encouragement and support while providing transportation services and reports resident needs or concerns to the Vice-President of Health Services or the nursing staff.Provide courier service to stat labs for nursing when available.Keep records of vehicle usage and mileage. Report monthly mileage to CFO.Use daily transportation schedule to track number of transports by driver and level of care. Send this report quarterly to Vice-President of Health Services.Assist with ELITE transportation as needed.Performs other reasonable duties requested by the Director of Continuing Care.Typical Physical DemandsAbility to bend, squat, raise arms above the shoulders and lift 30 lbs.Ability to push/pull 150 to 180 lbs.Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of a 24 hour daily operation.QualificationsKey Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMicrosoft Office, Word and Excel.Ability to read and understand business language; ability to perform numerical calculations.Considerable ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Considerable ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, visitors and staff.Excellent human relation and verbal communication skills.Ability to protect confidentiality of sensitive resident information.Ability to perform mental functions, reading and withstand moderate amounts of stress.Work habits must include regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, dependability and promptness.Ability to embody and uphold the corporate personality and culture of Arbor Acres with its emphasis on warmth, caring, generation of community, enthusiasm, achievement of excellence, and joy.Minimum ExperiencePrefer at least 2 years of related work experience.Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent.License and/or certificationsValid North Carolina Driver's license, demonstrated safe driving recordAbility to successfully complete training to drive the 10 passenger van, 15 passenger mini-Thomas, 15 passenger Eldorado, 14 passenger wheelchair bus, wheelchair accessible vans, properly tie down wheelchairs and operate the wheelchair lift.
