Senior Estimator - Geotechnical Construction (Relocation Provided)
Location: Colfax, NC 
Salary: $100K-$120K base + up to 40K in bonus

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with strong geotechnical and construction background to lead accurate, timely cost estimating for civil, roadway, earthwork and specialty geotech projects. The Senior Estimator will prepare comprehensive bids, analyze project risks, develop cost models for materials and labor, collaborate with engineering and field teams, and support business development. This role requires deep understanding of geotechnical materials and methods (soil stabilization, geotextiles, advanced drainage, erosion control), excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior estimators.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed, competitive estimates for geotechnical, civil, roadway, earthwork and related construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and geotechnical reports to identify scope, risks, quantities and constructability issues.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, field personnel and subcontractors to obtain pricing, clarify scope and validate assumptions.
• Perform risk analysis, contingency development and value engineering to optimize bid competitiveness and project profitability.
• Prepare proposal documents, bid summaries and pricing narratives for internal review and client submittal.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, unit rates and historical cost records; implement continuous improvement in estimating practices.
• Support pre-bid meetings, site visits and client interactions to gather information and present bid rationale.
• Collaborate with Chief Estimator and business development teams on pursuit strategy, bid/no-bid decisions and capture plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience in construction with direct experience as a Senior Estimator or equivalent role.
• Proven geotechnical experience: familiarity with soil stabilization, erosion control, advanced drainage systems, geotextiles, and related materials and installation methods.
• Strong construction knowledge across civil, roadway, earthwork and highway projects.
• Demonstrated proficiency in quantity take-offs, unit pricing, cost modeling and proposal preparation.
• Experience with estimating software and spreadsheets; ability to maintain estimating databases and historical cost files.
• Business development or sales background
