Construction Safety Inspector / HSE Specialist
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and vigilant Construction Safety Inspector (Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist) to oversee safety compliance on-site for major construction, infrastructure, and industrial projects. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive daily safety walkthroughs, monitor contractor adherence to Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and OSHA regulations, and ensure proactive risk mitigation. You will play a vital role in high-risk activity oversight-including nighttime operations-incident investigations, and championing a zero-incident safety culture across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

• Safety Inspections & Audits: Conduct routine and comprehensive inspections of construction activities, daily safety walkthroughs, and documented audits of contractors, equipment, and work operations to verify OSHA and project compliance.
• High-Risk & Night Operations Oversight: Monitor high-risk activities-including excavation, fall protection, crane/rigging, electrical work, and complex nighttime operations (roadway closures, utility work, traffic maintenance)-ensuring adequate lighting, traffic controls, and safety measures are enforced.
• Incident Prevention & Investigation: Participate in investigations for incidents, near misses, and property damage events. Collect evidence, assist leadership in identifying root causes, and track corrective action closures.
• Contractor & Compliance Monitoring: Review contractor safety documentation, pre-task plans, and safety orientations. Verify that personnel hold required training and certifications.
• Documentation & Culture Promotion: Prepare daily safety reports, track safety metrics and trends, and actively promote a proactive safety culture through mentoring, toolbox talks, and support of company safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering preferred). Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible construction safety experience, including field inspection and compliance oversight.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong, working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926) and experience with large infrastructure, utility, transportation, or industrial projects.
• Technical & Field Skills: Proven ability to conduct safety audits, investigations, and risk mitigations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic safety management systems.
• Credentials: Valid driver's license for site access. Professional safety certifications (such as OSHA 500/510, CHST, CSP, ASP, or CSHO) and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications are highly preferred.
