About the Role
The Company is a global leader in the life sciences space, seeking a strategic Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead its global accounting operations and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a key member of the finance leadership team, ensuring the integrity of the company's financial information, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems. Key responsibilities for the CAO include leading the global accounting function, overhauling day-to-day operations, serving as a principal liaison with external auditors and regulators, providing executive leadership with financial insights, and driving continuous improvement using lean tools and automation. The role also involves team leadership, fostering a culture of transformative process improvement, and partnering with various internal functions to align financial reporting with corporate objectives. The ideal candidate for the CAO position at the company will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a CPA certification and at least 15 years of progressive accounting leadership experience. A strong background in U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance is essential, with a preference for those with experience in the life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry. The role requires a hands-on, strategic leader with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing, scalable accounting teams, and the ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a proactive, hands-on strategic approach are also key, as is the ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels.
