Test Engineer - Test Technician – Connected Product Tester

Overview

Our Client is launching a brand-new connected product and needs a hands-on tester to ensure it’s fully ready for market.

This candidate could be either an experienced technician or a degreed test engineer—focus is on someone who can own product

testing end-to-end.

What You’ll Do

(Day-to-Day)

• Run the product like an end user—validate features, workflows, and performance
• Compare expected vs. actual behavior across hardware, firmware, and digital interface
• Document issues clearly (what happened, when, and why it matters)
• Capture logs and analyze system behavior (basic firmware/microcontroller interaction)
• Troubleshoot sensors, wiring, and system-level issues
• Work with engineers to identify root cause and drive fixes
• Perform hands-on electrical work (multimeter use, wiring fixes, basic rework)

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in product testing, validation, or similar
• Experience with connected/electronic products (IoT, appliances, or similar)
• Comfortable working across hardware + firmware + software interactions
• Strong attention to detail and documentation

Nice to Have

• Experience pulling logs from microcontrollers
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, or USB
• Ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams
• Hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience

Contract Duration

• Through October initially, with potential to extend as product line evolves

Interview Question

• “Tell me about a time you tested end-user features on a connected product. How did you identify and troubleshoot a glitch?”

This is a Contract position based out of Brookfield, WI.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Brookfield,WI.
