Summary:

Blackburn Consulting is seeking a full-time Project Engineer or Geologist to work on engineering and geology projects. Project Engineers and Geologists at Blackburn Consulting work under the direction of the Director of Geotechnical Services and senior firm leadership. This candidate has 2-4 years of experience in a project-based, geotechnical engineering related field. This position requires travel (<25%) to project related sites, critical thinking, and the ability to learn and adopt project-based problem solving.

Blackburn provides civil, geotechnical, geo-environmental, construction, and forensics engineering services throughout California with offices in Auburn, West Sacramento, Escondido, Sausalito, and Fresno. We have an extensive geotechnical and materials testing lab in West Sacramento, CA and additional lab capabilities in Sausalito, Fresno, and Escondido. We focus mostly on public works including flood control and transportation. Blackburn has been in business since 1998 and is employee-owned and operated.

Technical Duties:

· Prepares simple designs, calculations, and draft reports

· Gathers and compiles data at the direction of Project Managers or Sr. Engineers

· Historical and analytical project research

· Engages in simple data and results analysis

· Completes tasks from Project Managers and senior staff on geotechnical engineering projects

· Works in field to complete exploration and data collection with drillers

Essential Duties:

· Communication with team members, takes direction well from others

· Basic understanding of budgets, ability to track time and expenses

· Coordinate with multiple parties to complete work

· Use and manipulate basic CAD and pdf software

Essential Abilities:

· Communication skills internally and externally

· Multi-task between projects

· Ability to deliver a high-quality deliverable in a timely manner

· Technical writing

· Interpersonal skills

· Willingness to learn and grow

Technical Qualifications:

· Registered PE or PG

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geology

· 2-4 years of relevant experience

· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle

· Computer Savvy (Windows 10, Autodesk Civil 3D, GIS, Adobe)

Physical Requirements:

· Read, write, and speak English

· Communicate clearly in person and over telephone

· Visual acuity to perform job duties

· Physical ability to bend, reach, stand, walk, sit, push and pull up to 40lbs of weight

· Physical ability to hand auger
