Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 08/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Location: Ascension St. John Medical Center – Tulsa, Oklahoma Facility: Ascension St. John Medical Center Department: 10E General Surgical Floor (Surg 10 East) Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Potential for Extension) Employment Type: Travel / Contract Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Schedule Shift: Nights Shift Time: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM Hours: 3 x 12-Hour Shifts (36 Hours/Week) Weekend Requirement: Up to 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule Holiday Requirement: Required based on department needs Unit Overview The 10 East General Surgical Floor is a 28-bed adult Medical/Surgical unit specializing in post-operative surgical patient care with telemetry capability. The unit features: 28-bed General Surgical Unit Adult post-operative patient population Telemetry monitoring capability Nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5–6 Supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) Dedicated Health Unit Coordinator Virtual sitter monitoring available Central telemetry monitor technicians Job Responsibilities Provide direct patient care following hospital policies and evidence-based nursing practice. Assess, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patient condition. Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately. Carry out physician orders and nursing interventions. Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care and discharge planning. Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery. Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced surgical environment. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR. Follow infection prevention and safety protocols using appropriate PPE.
