Parking Enforcement Officer

Position Summary Temporary Parking Enforcement Officer (TPEO). Provide security, enforcement, and public contact support for campus parking operations. The position requires patrolling in various modes, operating parking enforcement equipment, maintaining records, and performing basic vehicle maintenance. Temporary assignments may continue subject to department need and do not exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31‑day break from employment. Temporary employees are not permanent state employees, do not earn leave, and are subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines. Responsibilities Patrol parking areas on foot, bicycle, electric vehicle, or motor vehicle. Affix and remove immobilization devices up to 21 lbs while demonstrating proper safety procedures. Operate and maintain parking enforcement equipment, including smartphones, two‑way radios, and computer software. Prepare and submit incident reports, citation information, and other records. Conduct basic parking lot and deck maintenance tasks as needed. Maintain confidentiality and discretion while interacting with the UNCW community. Work shifts, weekends, events, and overtime, and operate effectively in all weather conditions. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency with proven competencies for the role. Valid North Carolina driver’s license. Prior experience as a parking enforcement officer is preferred. Strong customer‑service skills and ability to handle difficult situations professionally. Reliable and dependable with excellent teamwork and time‑management skills. Ability to walk for extended periods, work in all weather conditions, and lift 21 lbs or less. Work Hours and Compensation Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday; 30 hours per week. Pay: $16–$18 per hour, based on skill set.
