Parking Enforcement Officer Department & Position Details Department: Auxiliary Services - 35310 Vacancy Number: TSP5670PST Temporary Position Type: SHRA Temporary Job Category: Student Services FLSA for Position: Nonexempt Work Summary The Temporary Parking Enforcement Officer performs security, enforcement, and public contact work in support of campus operations. Work includes operating and maintaining parking enforcement equipment, records, and reports, such as smartphones and two-way radios, computers/software, and other technology. Requires the ability to attain a solid knowledge of UNCW's Parking Rules & Regulations, as well as standard safety, security, license plate recognition parking enforcement practices and associated equipment. Requires the ability to patrol on foot, bicycle, electric vehicle, and/or motor vehicle. Requires ability to affix and remove an immobilization device weighing up to 21 lbs to a vehicle. Requires simple vehicle maintenance procedures such as checking tires, oil, and gas, and reporting issues to supervisor. May require basic parking facility maintenance work. Positions maintain confidentiality and discretion while conducting business; they work individually and/or with others, and adapt to changes and circumstances as a team. Positions may require shift, weekend, and/or event/overtime work, and may work in all types of weather. The position may assist with minor maintenance associated with parking lots and parking decks. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. This position requires a valid N.C. driver's license. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Previous experience as a parking enforcement officer. Highly dependable and possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with the UNCW community, even in difficult situations. Must be a contributing team member and possess the ability to walk for extended periods of time, and work in all types of weather. Required Certifications or Licensure Valid/current driver’s license. Work Hours / Schedule Work Hours: Varies, currently 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Work Days: Varies - Must be flexible. Primary work schedule is Monday - Thursday. Hours Per Week: 30. Anticipated Hiring Range: $16 - $18/hr (Rate determined by skill set). Additional Information Temporary position. Length of assignment based on department need with possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines.
