Human Resources Specialist Location: Union City, CA Job Type: Full-Time Contract (Approximately 3 Months) Schedule: On-Site Department: Administration Reports To: Director About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on HR professional with strong knowledge of California employment laws, employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while supporting a positive, productive, and people‑focused workplace culture. Key Responsibilities Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and offboarding. Partner with hiring managers to coordinate recruitment efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and preparing offer letters. Facilitate new hire onboarding and employee orientation programs. Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, COBRA, and employee communications. Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, job descriptions, and personnel files. Track and manage leaves of absence while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Ensure compliance with California employment laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies. Provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations, performance management, workplace policies, and conflict resolution. Support performance review processes and employee development initiatives. Coordinate training and professional development programs. Manage workers' compensation claims, safety programs, ergonomic assessments, and injury reporting. Conduct exit interviews and assist with employee separation processes. Communicate HR policies, procedures, and benefit updates throughout the organization. Support special projects and additional HR initiatives as needed. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience. Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices. Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) preferred. Preferred Bilingual skills are a plus.
