PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This role requires skilled clinical judgment and the ability to provide excellent patient care during the recovery period after surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive care to patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, monitoring vital signs and recovery progress.
Administer medications and maintain IV therapy as directed.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and assess patient care plans.
Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery processes.
Float between multiple locations within the region as needed.
Participate in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Two years of PACU experience preferred.
Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS required.
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is essential for this role.

Work Schedule

The position requires a 12-hour shift starting at 0800, with some on-call duties as assigned. A response time of 30 minutes is required for call duties.

Weekend availability is necessary, and call may be assigned on weekends.

Unit Type: PACU
Number of Beds: 17
Patient Ratios: 1:2
Common Recovery Cases: General surgery, cardiac, orthopedic, endoscopic, and other specialty surgeries.
ICU patients may recover in the PACU.

Additional Details

Floor-specific orientation will be provided. The unit features an open layout with a main nurses' station centrally located. Scrubs should be navy blue. The unit is equipped with full telehealth capabilities and has a support team that includes respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available 24/7.
