Housekeeping Manager - Hotel Indigo Lower East Side

Job Overview: Manage the housekeeping operation and staff to ensure product quality standards are met and that optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel and company business objectives. Duties and Responsibilities Financial Returns: Assist in monitoring the departmental budget and financial plans to support the hotel's overall profitability. Financial Returns: Manage inventory levels and other expenses based on analysis of budgetary impact, demand, and other factors. People: Interact with outside contacts such as vendors, regulatory agencies, guests, and other professional organizations. People: Provide ongoing training, coaching, and counselling for all housekeeping employees. People: Drive salary changes, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions. People: Lead the hiring process, including job posting, candidate selection, interviewing, and hiring. People: Plan and lead team meetings to provide coaching around new procedures, policies, and daily operations. People: Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Guest Experience: May be responsible for the security of lost and found items or coordinate with other departments. Guest Experience: Monitor guest complaints and special requests, ensuring action to achieve satisfaction. Responsible Business: Manage the day‑to‑day operation of the housekeeping department, directing work of two or more full‑time employees. Responsible Business: Develop, communicate, and enforce department policies and procedures. Responsible Business: Plan, schedule, organize, and oversee work to ensure coverage, timely completion, and satisfactory performance. Responsible Business: Schedule routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas, coach employees on deficiencies, and provide corrective action. Responsible Business: Serve as manager on duty as required. Responsible Business: May assist with deep cleaning projects and/or support staff during unanticipated rush periods. Responsible Business: May assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent; management or supervisory experience and at least four years housekeeping/laundry experience, preferably in a hotel of similar size and complexity. Some college preferred. Fluent in English; additional languages preferred. Physical demands: carrying or lifting items up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling approximately 200 pounds; frequent standing, moving, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Strong communication skills for interacting with guests, employees, and third parties. Proficient reading and writing for completing paperwork and management reports. Mathematical skills: basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances. Problem‑solving, reasoning, motivation, organization, and training abilities.
