Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating advanced 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex aerospace and flight hardware components with extremely tight tolerances. You will work in a precision-driven environment, using modern CNC controls and inspection tools to ensure high-quality, high-tolerance parts for aircraft, defense, and space-related programs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce complex aerospace and flight hardware components.
• Interpret and work from detailed engineering blueprints and drawings to machine parts to specification.
• Work consistently to tight tolerances of ± 0.001" (one thousandth of an inch) for high-precision components.
• Perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions and quality.
• Use and navigate multiple CNC control systems, including Fanuc, Siemens, HAAS, Cincinnati, and Heidenhain controls.
• Troubleshoot machining operations and make necessary adjustments to programs, tooling, and machine settings to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with programming and engineering teams to review CNC programs and optimize machining processes for large aerospace parts.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, and workholding for 5-axis CNC milling operations, ensuring proper alignment and stability.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in a high-precision aerospace machine shop environment.
• Follow established quality procedures and documentation requirements for aerospace and flight hardware manufacturing.
• Support continuous improvement efforts in machining processes, setups, and inspection methods.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 7 years of machining experience in the aerospace industry.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Proficiency with Fanuc, Siemens, HAAS, Cincinnati, and Heidenhain CNC controls.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Solid understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances of ± 0.001" on complex parts.
• Advanced precision inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools.
• Comfortable troubleshooting machining operations and resolving production issues.
• Experience working with large aerospace parts and flight hardware components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with 5-axis setup for CNC milling operations.
• Experience working with CAM software and CNC programs for complex geometries.
• Familiarity with machining structural components for aircraft, defense, and space-related programs.
• Experience in precision CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly of high-tolerance components.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in a regulated industry.

Work Environment

You work in a clean, modern aerospace machine shop environment dedicated to high-precision manufacturing. The facility focuses on the production of complex metal components and assemblies used in aircraft, defense, and space-related programs. You will use advanced CNC machining centers, including 5-axis mills, and work with a variety of CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens, HAAS, Cincinnati, and Heidenhain. The environment emphasizes precision CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly of high-tolerance flight hardware and structural components, with established processes and quality standards typical of aerospace manufacturing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
