Responsibilities Lead 7–8 General Liability Litigation Claim Handlers with corresponding claim inventories. Effectively train, coach and develop staff to enable optimal job performance and the achievement of individual and professional goals. Manage and direct claim investigation, liability determinations, disposition and settlement in compliance with corporate claim settlement policies and procedures. Manage and implement change, explaining drivers and business goals. Evaluate and manage staff performance. Serve as a technical resource for 7–8 General Liability Litigation Claim Handlers. Understand and effectively analyze General Liability and/or personal lines coverage forms. Experience in leading and managing all levels of staff relative to experience, tenure and professional development. Extensive knowledge of customer service drivers and the ability to resolve customer issues, needs and concerns independently. Experience with human resource policies and procedures and administration of the same. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, regardless of audience demographic. Ability to partner with internal and external customers inclusive of Agents, Brokers, Sales and Product. Qualifications Prior high exposure to general liability claims and litigation experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of contracts and contractual indemnification. More than a basic understanding of coverage and risk transfer heading toward the development of a strong coverage acumen. College degree preferred. Prior management experience strongly preferred. Consistent high level of performance and achievement over career span. CPCU, AIC, SCLA or other professional designation, or working toward such designation preferred. Additional Information This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Scottsdale, AZ; Lake Mary, FL; Naperville, IL; Alpharetta, GA) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. The GL Litigation Team Leader reports to the Western General Liability & Auto Litigation Claim Center. For full‑time, remote positions: High speed broadband internet service is required. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short‑term or annual bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $86,400 – $129,600.
