Apply soon before it closes Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical PCU position requiring 2 years of experience and ACLS/BLS certification with a night shift schedule. Details Surgical PCU unit with near-ICU level acuity Patient population includes ENT (neck dissections, mandibulectomy), Thoracic (esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy), General Surgery (pancreatic, bowel/liver resections), Urology (urinary diversions, cystectomies, RPLND), and medical overflow Staffing ratio of 1:3-4 Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30) Every other weekend required, with possible consecutive weekends based on operational needs Floating required to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU levels of care within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals Charge nurse responsibilities may be required with training provided Cerner charting system experience preferred Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent experience required Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, chest tube management, fresh trach care, feeding tube management, post-op patient care, epidural management, non-titratable cardiac drips, IV insulin protocols, external BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy care, and Doppler flap checks Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional Information Care for surgical patients with near-ICU level acuity across ENT, Thoracic, General Surgery, and Urology specialties Must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow as this is a teaching facility Must be willing to take on charge nurse responsibilities if operational needs arise, with resources provided Failure to float as required may result in contract termination Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval First-time travelers are welcome to apply Prior travel experience not required, though 1 year is preferred Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position Past IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler Current or past IU Health travelers with 12+ months of cumulative travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents) These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
