Security Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Security Automation Engineer to join our team on a remote, contract basis. This role focuses on enhancing and automating IT systems that support secure access and identity management within a security-focused environment. The engineer will develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) solutions, supporting secure authentication, authorization, web gateway, and API services, while reducing manual processes through CI/CD pipelines and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and maintains automation solutions for Access Management Services and gateway environments.
• Builds and enhances Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) frameworks.
• Develops automated deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes to accelerate deployment and reduce manual intervention.
• Supports automated deployment processes utilizing IBM Security products and other access management solutions.
• Improves existing automation workflows and develops new health checks and monitoring capabilities.
• Implements integrations with source control and change management systems to ensure reproducibility and traceability of changes.
• Enables automated rebuilds of environments to facilitate rapid recovery from ransomware or other critical incidents.
• Automates operational tasks to improve system reliability and minimize errors.
• Integrates monitoring tools to support automated incident creation and self-healing capabilities.
• Streamlines work intake processes through integration with ServiceNow.
• Supports future initiatives such as "no-touch deployments" to accelerate time to market.
• Shares knowledge with team members and continuously seeks process improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Ansible Tower
• Experience with GitLab
• Strong Python development skills
• Experience with OpenShift and/or Kubernetes
• Shell scripting experience
• Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems
• Experience working with RESTful APIs
• Experience with Argo CD
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML 2.0 Federation, SCIM, LDAP
• Experience with IBM Security products or other enterprise access management platforms
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with JavaScript
• Experience with ServiceNow
• Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Experience with Ansible Automation Hub and Ansible Galaxy
• Experience with Nexus
