Senior Surgical Technologist

Job Description As a Senior Surgical Technologist, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring the smooth operation of procedures. With a primary focus on pediatric care, you will work across various surgical suites and special procedure rooms, utilizing your expertise in multiple surgical specialties. Your role is crucial in maintaining a high standard of patient care and a harmonious work environment. Location flexibility This position requires flexibility to work across various UCSF Medical Center locations, including the Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and Walnut Creek. Responsibilities Select and set up instruments and equipment for surgical procedures. Function as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, collaborating effectively. Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during operations, maintaining a sterile field. Ensure the surgical environment remains sterile throughout the procedure. Orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as required, demonstrating flexibility. Maintain knowledge and adhere to behavioral standards within the scope of practice. Promote service excellence by following UCSF Medical Center's PRIDE standards for communication and behavior. Keep working areas clean and orderly, adhering to safety and infection control policies. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competency in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues. Assume accountability for improving quality metrics and meeting departmental targets. Qualifications Two years recent scrubbing clinical experience in an acute care operating room. Recent experience (within last two years) scrubbing in at least three service lines: General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, Plastics, or Cardiac. Demonstrated proficiency in at least two surgical specialties. Active American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification for healthcare providers. High School Diploma; or equivalent experience. Graduate of a surgical technologist training program; or equivalent experience. The flexibility to work and orient at all UCSF Health locations. Preferred Requirements Certification as a Surgical Technologist. Pediatric experience desired.
