Role Description The Experienced Underwriter Personal Auto Lines Florida will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing personal auto risks within Florida in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day activities include reviewing applications, driving records, prior loss history, and supporting documentation to determine eligibility, appropriate coverage, and premium levels. The role involves working closely with agents, internal teams, and management to clarify risk details, provide underwriting guidance, and resolve issues promptly. The underwriter will monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, recommend changes to underwriting criteria, and support the development of new guidelines or products. This is a full-time, on‑site role based in the Greater Chicago Area, with a focus on Florida personal auto business. Qualifications Demonstrated experience underwriting personal auto lines, ideally with a strong focus on the Florida market and its regulatory environment. Solid understanding of auto insurance products, rating factors, risk assessment, and policy forms. Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to interpret data, loss trends, and underwriting reports. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with agents, peers, and cross‑functional teams. Proficiency with underwriting and policy administration systems, and comfort working with digital tools and databases. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, policy issuance, and compliance with company standards. Ability to manage a high‑volume workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Relevant professional experience in property and casualty insurance; industry certifications (such as CPCU or AU) are a plus. Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
