Senior Software Engineer - Public Cloud Engineering Location New York Business Area Engineering and CTO Ref # 10052011 Description & Requirements The Public Cloud Engineering organization provides the foundational platforms, services, and guardrails that enable Bloomberg's use of public cloud technologies. From security, governance, and identity to networking, observability, deployment, and compute, our teams build the capabilities that allow engineering organizations to safely and efficiently develop, deploy, and operate solutions across public cloud environments. As Public Cloud Engineering continues to grow, we are hiring software and platform engineers across multiple technical domains. Successful candidates will join a team focused on one or more of the following areas: Cloud Adoption & GovernanceWorkload onboarding and enablement, governance automation, runtime security posture management, and AI onboarding and governance patterns. Compute PlatformsCloud compute foundations, runtime standards, platform integrations, and multi-cloud compute capabilities. Compute DeploymentTrusted compute delivery, image lifecycle management, publishing workflows, provenance, and software supply chain capabilities. Networking & Connectivity PlatformCloud networking APIs, hybrid connectivity, network automation, and connectivity controls. Identity & Access PlatformHuman and workload identity, access governance, secrets and certificate lifecycle management, and cloud access foundations. While individual roles are typically aligned to a specific platform domain, engineers within Public Cloud Engineering collaborate closely to deliver a cohesive cloud experience for Bloomberg's engineering community. Working alongside engineers with deep expertise across cloud infrastructure, software engineering, security, networking, identity, and reliability, you will have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges at enterprise scale. From defining platform capabilities and automation to improving developer experiences and operational excellence, your work will directly influence how Bloomberg builds, deploys, secures, and operates applications in public cloud environments. You will also have the opportunity to partner closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Security, SRE, and Infrastructure organizations while learning from experts across multiple cloud and platform domains. We'll trust you to Design, build, and operate scalable platform capabilities that enable Bloomberg's adoption of public cloud technologiesDevelop self-service tooling, APIs, automation, and workflows that improve the developer experience and reduce operational complexityPartner with engineering, security, SRE, and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and drive platform adoptionBuild reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions within your platform domain while contributing to broader Public Cloud Engineering initiativesUse software engineering and infrastructure-as-code practices to automate platform operations and improve service qualityHelp define standards, best practices, and paved-road experiences for engineering teams building on public cloudContribute to the architecture, implementation, and long-term evolution of Bloomberg's public cloud platforms You'll need to have 4+ years of professional software engineering, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering experienceStrong programming skills in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C++Experience designing, building, or operating production systems at scaleStrong Linux/Unix fundamentalsExperience with one or more public cloud providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud PlatformExperience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as TerraformStrong understanding of software engineering principles, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithmsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsA demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for automation and drive solutions from design through implementationA strong sense of ownership and a desire to solve complex technical problems We'd love to see Experience building internal developer platforms, cloud platforms, or self-service engineering capabilitiesExperience in one or more of the following areas:Cloud governance, security, and compliance automationIdentity and access managementSecrets, certificate, or key management systemsCloud networking, hybrid connectivity, and network automationCompute platforms, runtime environments, and workload orchestrationSoftware supply chain security and trusted deployment systemsObservability, telemetry, reliability engineering, and incident managementPlatform APIs, orchestration systems, and developer toolingExperience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologiesExperience building highly available, distributed systemsExperience contributing to shared platforms used by multiple engineering teamsExperience working in large-scale enterprise or regulated environmentsContributions to open-source software or cloud-native communitiesSalary Range = 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annual + Benefits + BonusThe referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
