Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse (RN) - ORThe OR RN participates in perioperative nursing across surgical procedures. The role emphasizes maintaining sterile technique, instrument counts, patient safety, and coordination with the surgical team before, during, and after procedures.The nurse supports efficient case flow, documentation, and immediate post-operative care planning in collaboration with the anesthesia and surgical teams.ResponsibilitiesPrepare the surgical field, assist with instrument management, and maintain sterile technique.Support the anesthesia team and monitor patient status throughout the perioperative period.Assist with patient positioning, specimen labeling, and counts of instruments and supplies.Document intraoperative care and post-anesthesia recovery needs in the EHR.Collaborate with surgeons, circulating nurses, and scrub personnel to ensure patient safety and throughput.Provide immediate post-anesthesia care and discharge planning for ambulatory cases.QualificationsEducation:Associate degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program.Licensure:Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)CNOR (permitted or preferred)Experience or Skills:Experience in perioperative nursing or OR experience; strong critical thinking, sterile technique, and teamwork abilities.ExperienceOR or perioperative nursing experienceExperience with instrumentation, positioning, and turnoverPreferredCNOR certificationBSN preferredWork EnvironmentOperating room environment with sterile fields and potential for high-stress, time-sensitive cases. Teams work in 8- to 12-hour shifts depending on case volume.Documentation in the EHR and close collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating staff are standard practice.
