Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of mining equipment, ensuring optimal efficiency and safety of all machinery. This role demands advanced expertise in various mechanical systems, including braking, steering, and suspension, as well as proficiency in electronic engine controls and hydraulic systems. The ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics is crucial for effective troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. Proficiency with Cat SIS, Cat ET, and Cummins InSite are helpful. While this role ideally suits an experienced mechanic, we welcome applicants with strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to further develop skill sets. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and safety practices while ensuring minimal downtime for equipment and compliance with Kinross' safety and operational standards. Work Schedule This position follows a rotating 5/4 schedule, alternating between day and night shifts. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed is required. Job Responsibilities Adhere to all MSHA and Bald Mountain safety policies and procedures. Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mobile mining equipment, including haul trucks, graders, dozers, water trucks, shovels, and drills. Conduct structural welding and fabrication on heavy equipment, including crack repair and metal buildup in line with OEM or AWS welding procedures.
