Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Cardiology)

Contract | Days (6:45 AM shift) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday flexibility required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic, and cardiac medical patients including post-op CABG, CHF, A-fib with RVR, pacemakers, chest tubes, and related diagnoses
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, Lasix, Bumex, Primacor, and Vaprosol
• Read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring system
• Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen; no full ventilator management required
• Participate in high-volume room turnover with an average of 12–16 discharges and admissions per shift on busy days; average census of 32–38 patients across a 44-bed unit
• Float to ICU as needed to manage stepdown-level patients; candidates with ICU experience may take ICU-level patients

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown experience in an acute care setting (required without exception)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Proficiency or willingness to work with Meditech EMR
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (as verified by driver's license address)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience pulling pacer wires (orientation provided if not currently able)
• ICU-level nursing experience (enables broader floating opportunities)
