About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our team in the Virginia Beach area. This position will focus on developing and strengthening referral relationships within the Behavioral Health community, with particular emphasis on Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

The ideal candidate understands the behavioral healthcare landscape, has established relationships with referral sources, and is passionate about connecting individuals and families with appropriate behavioral health services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong referral relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, therapists, psychiatrists, treatment centers, community organizations, and other behavioral health professionals.
• Identify and cultivate new business and referral opportunities throughout the Virginia Beach and surrounding Hampton Roads areas.
• Educate referral partners about PHP, IOP, and other available behavioral health services.
• Represent the organization at community events, healthcare meetings, networking opportunities, and professional organizations.
• Develop and execute territory-specific business development and outreach strategies.
• Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with referral partners and prospective referral sources.
• Monitor referral trends, market activity, and competitive developments.
• Collaborate with clinical, admissions, marketing, and leadership teams to support census growth and continuity of care.
• Track outreach activities, referrals, and relationship development using CRM and reporting systems.
• Help identify opportunities to expand community awareness and access to behavioral health services.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of business development, outreach, referral relations, sales, or community relations experience, preferably within behavioral healthcare.
• Demonstrated experience working with PHP, IOP, behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, or related healthcare services.
• Established relationships within the behavioral health, healthcare, hospital, or community provider network preferred.
• Strong understanding of behavioral health referral pathways and levels of care.
• Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
• Ability to develop and manage a local territory effectively.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and standard business communication tools.
• Ability to travel locally throughout the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area as needed.
• Must currently live in the Virginia Beach area or surrounding Hampton Roads region.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
