Step into a dynamic paraprofessional role supporting students across a variety of classrooms in a large, vibrant district near Independence, MO! This flexible per diem, contract position runs from late August through the end of May, making it a great opportunity for those seeking adaptable scheduling or experience in a diverse school environment.

You’ll be on the front line providing crucial support in Special Education (SPED) settings, including both 1:1 and classroom aide assignments. With 33 schools—primarily elementary—you’ll assist students with educational and behavioral needs using strategies like Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Some assignments may involve toileting or more intensive behavior management.

This is an app-based, on-call position: receive daily notifications and select your available shifts right from your phone. Schedules vary by school level, allowing you to tailor your workweek and gain hands-on experience throughout the district.

Key Requirements:

• Current Missouri substitute certificate (must be active before your first day; in-progress is acceptable for now)
• Prior experience in schools, particularly with behavior or SPED populations
• Willingness to complete fingerprinting for compliant onboarding
• Flexibility for per diem work; paid only for worked shifts
• Adaptable to working in elementary, middle, or high school environments

Daily Responsibilities:

• Support students and staff in SPED classrooms, following teacher and district directives
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans and assist with behavioral needs
• Provide support ranging from academic assistance to physical management, including toileting as needed
• Participate as an active team member in a wide variety of school settings
