CT Technologist

Position Summary:

The CT Technologist coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and monitor CT equipment per patient requirements. Ensure safe transfer and positioning of patients using proper lifting techniques and immobilization devices as necessary.
• Confirm patient identification and gather vital information, including known allergies and relevant medical history.
• Administer and inject contrast media intravenously as required for examinations, following protocols established by the Radiologist.
• Produce images for permanent records of each patient and maintain studies on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organize daily patient schedules in collaboration with other departmental staff.
• Maintain image quality according to department guidelines and perform daily calibration and quality control of equipment. Ensure proper repairs are conducted and adhere to established imaging protocols.
• Handle electronic and digital image capture, storage, transfer, and duplication.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and respond appropriately. Assist with emergency medical situations, including providing basic CPR.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations set forth by the relevant health authorities.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work environment and ensure department inventory levels are upheld.
• Train new personnel as needed, fostering a supportive learning environment.
• Assist Radiologists and other physician specialists in executing specialized radiological procedures in accordance with departmental standards.
• Review and document pertinent patient history and clinical data to aid in accurate diagnoses.
• Keep records in compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
• Engage in departmental quality assessments and continuous improvement initiatives, participating in goal setting, data evaluation, and action plan implementation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of X-Ray experience required.
• Traveler experience preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ARRT is required.
