Job Overview

The Shipping & Receiving Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods between the warehouse and customers, using truck scales to weigh shipments and ensure accurate documentation. This role is central to maintaining efficient operations, accurate records, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Load & Dispatch Coordination: Receive incoming shipments and outgoing orders; assign loads to trucks and drivers, ensuring timely deliveries

· Scale Operations: Use truck scales to weigh shipments; record weights accurately in dispatch and TMS systems; verify compliance with weight limits and DOT regulations.

· Route & Scheduling: Plan and adjust routes to optimize delivery times and reduce transit delays

· Communication: Communicate with drivers, customers, and warehouse staff to provide route updates, delivery instructions, and resolve issues in real time

· Documentation: Verify and maintain accurate shipment documentation, including purchase orders, invoices and delivery notes

· Compliance: Ensure adherence to transportation regulations, safety protocols, and company policies

· Problem Solving: Address and resolve transportation issues such as delays, breakdowns, and weight discrepancies

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or dispatching preferred.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to multitask and handle multiple shipments, drivers, and urgent requests simultaneously.

· Proficiency in dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.

· Understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and fleet management policies.

· Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
