What you’ll do: ProvidetechnicalleadershipacrossmultipleengineeringteamsbuildingourDigitalServices&Channelsplatform.You’llworkwithengineersacrossdomaintoevolveourarchitecture,improvereliability,simplifycomplexsystems,andhelpshapethetechnicaldirectionoftheplatform.We’relookingforsomeonewithdeepexperiencebuildingdistributedbackendsystems,strongengineeringjudgement,andatrackrecordofleadingtechnicaldecisionsinproductionenvironments. Your key areas of responsibility include: Define and evolve the technical architecture of the platform. Design scalable, resilient, and maintainable distributed systems. Lead architectural decisions and drive long-term platform evolution. Solve the most challenging production and performance problems. Improve reliability, observability, security, and developer experience. Partner with engineering teams to reduce technical debt and simplify existing systems. Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical discussions, and hands-on collaboration. Work with Product and Engineering Managers to balance technical sustainability with business delivery. What will help you thrive in this role: Anexperiencedsoftwareengineerwithapassionforbuildingandevolvinglarge-scalebackendsystems. Key qualifications include: Extensive experience building, modernizing, andoperatingdistributed backend systems within the Java technology ecosystem. Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, performance, observability, and cloud-native architectures. Experience evolving large systems through incremental modernization rather than large rewrites. Soundtechnicalsolution evaluationand the ability to make pragmatic technical trade-offs. Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams. Passion for writing simple, maintainable software and helping others do the same. Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively whilemaintaininghigh engineering standards.
