The Ringgold School District is seeking applicants for Assistant Principal positions at the elementary and middle/secondary levels. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, three letters of recommendation, Acts 34, 114, 151 clearances less than one year old, Act 24, Act 126 Certificate and Act 168 disclosure release(s). EOE Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Principal Certification and have a Master's Degree.

Job Description

Primary Purpose: The assistant principal supports the principal's implementation of the academic program and promotion of a positive school climate that supports effective teaching and learning.

Qualifications:

• Pennsylvania Certification as a Principal PK-12 or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a school setting, administrative experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for student welfare and safety of students and staff.
• Responsible for the oversight and supervision of staff.
• Evaluates staff pursuant to Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements as well as any School District processes and/or procedures.
• Carries out/undertakes periodic walk throughs of teacher classrooms and other staff and provides appropriate feedback regarding same.
• Abides by and assists in monitoring building-wide compliance with federal, state, and local school laws and regulations, mandated programs, District policies and administrative regulations and procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Recommends changes to District policies or administrative regulations.
• Reviews and abides by the Pennsylvania Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.
• Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the Principal for investigative follow-up actions.
• Serves with parents/guardians, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
• Assists in the formulation of the master schedule, teaching assignments, and student schedules.
• Supervises the procedures and activities of the instructional support team in coordination with the Principal, including but not limited to the Student Assistance Program, individualized education programs, gifted individualized education plans, and section 504 service agreements, and participates in multiple team meetings related to student growth as well as other pupil-oriented group meetings.
• Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and meets with students to discuss and determine consequences for disciplinary infractions as well as positive motivation in accordance with federal, state, and local school laws and regulations, mandated programs, District policies and administrative regulations and procedure, and the student code of conduct.
• Assists in guiding the preparation for and ensuring integrity in the administration of federal, statewide, and local student assessments.
• Maintains the confidentiality of student records and information as part of exercising professional duties and discretion in sharing such information.
• Maintains active relationships with students, parents/guardians, professional, and nonprofessional personnel; acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school; encourages community participation in school life; and initiates and encourages cooperative relationships with community entities/groups.
• Assists in development and coordination of student activities that support the instructional program and meet community needs to include athletic programs, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and other school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
• Works with Principal and faculty in compiling budget requests data. Assists in requisitioning supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducting inventories, maintaining records, and checking receipts for such material.
• Assists the Principal and office staff in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
• Assists in conducting safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
• Assists in the coordination of proper care and maintenance of the facility.
• Assists in maintaining and controlling various local funds generated by student activities.
• Assists the Principal in the overall administration of the school and, if designated, serves as Principal in his/her absence.
• Supervises student arrival and departure, including monitoring of the parking lots, student drop off and pick up, and assists with district transportation at the school.
