About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Acute Care (Medical Surgical) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required (both must be American Heart Association certified) Must-Have: Experience in acute care settings Description: The unit has a total of 44 beds with a staff of 40. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6 for both day and night shifts. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred but not required. Nurse aides are available on the unit, working with ratios of 1:8 to 1:10, and they may serve as sitters. Shifts operate from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, covering 12-hour shifts. Every other weekend is required, with holidays as needed. The dress code for scrubs is Caribbean Blue. Telemetry is monitored on a different unit. Travel nurses may float to all acute care and cardiology areas to care for medical patients or assist with acute care patient holds. General orientation lasts one week, including electronic medical records training, followed by two days of floor-specific orientation. The area has a population of approximately 80,000 and is located within a reasonable distance to major cities and recreational beaches. Housing options are available that are safe, clean, and regularly have availability.
