Job Summary

Join a dedicated critical care team in a 21-bed general Intensive Care Unit located in Carbondale, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-acuity bedside care to a diverse patient population requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.

The unit manages a wide range of critical conditions, including cardiac, neurological, neurosurgical, post-cardiovascular surgery, post-general surgery, medical ICU cases, and post-trauma patients. Nurses maintain a typical patient ratio of 2:1, ensuring focused and comprehensive care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, comprehensive bedside nursing care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced ICU environment.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpret diagnostic data, and implement individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments, including titrating vasoactive drips and managing ventilators.
• Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and multi-system organ failure.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
• Ability to work in Carbondale, Illinois.

Licensing Requirements

• Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or compact state license.
