GIS Technician

GIS TechnicianThe GIS Technician will support PG&E's Cloud Data Migration Program, focused on migrating enterprise geospatial data and services from Oracle Spatial to a cloud-hosted PostgreSQL/PostGIS environment. This role will be responsible for GIS data maintenance, quality control, migration support, testing activities, and operational documentation to ensure accurate and reliable geospatial information throughout the modernization effort.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport inventory and assessment of GIS datasets, schemas, feature classes, and associated metadata.Perform GIS data editing, maintenance, and quality assurance activities.Assist with data migration validation and reconciliation efforts between source and target systems.Conduct spatial and attribute data quality reviews to identify discrepancies and resolve data issues.Support testing of migrated GIS datasets, services, and applications.Verify data completeness, schema compliance, and spatial accuracy.Assist with GIS service validation and functionality testing following migration activities.Maintain migration documentation, runbooks, inventory records, and operational procedures.Support deployment, cutover, and post-migration stabilization activities.Collaborate with GIS Analysts, Developers, and Project Managers to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.Participate in knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.Support ongoing monitoring and issue resolution efforts within the cloud GIS environment.We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
