CNC Milling Setup and Operator

We are seeking an experienced and self-sufficient CNC Milling Setup Machinist to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for independently performing complete setups and operating 3-axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) equipped with Fanuc controls. The ideal candidate must be able to work without supervision, interpret complex engineering blueprints, set work holding and tooling, and edit G-code at the control to ensure precise, high-quality production.

Responsibilities

• Independent Machine Setup: Perform complete, independent setups on 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines from setup sheets, blueprints, and process sheets.

• Fanuc Control Operation: Load programs, calculate and enter work offsets (G54-G59), set tool height offsets, and make G-code / M-code edits directly at the Fanuc control panel.

• Tooling & Fixturing: Select, assemble, preset, and install proper cutting tools, toolholders, collets, vises, and custom fixtures.

• First-Piece & In-Process Inspection: Perform first-article inspection and monitor part quality throughout production runs using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, gauge blocks).

• Process Optimization: Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to optimize cycle times, maximize tool life, and maintain strict tolerances.

• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machining issues, non-conforming parts, tooling wear, or minor program errors on the shop floor.

• Maintenance & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized work area (5S), perform daily preventative maintenance checks, and adhere strictly to safety protocols.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working up to 8 hrs of overtime per week
