Expected hiring range is $21.42/hr to $27.46/hr. dependent on Qualifications And Verifiable Experience The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) researches, writes, and manages grants to support County programs and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include identifying local, state, federal, and private funding opportunities; developing competitive grant proposals and supporting documents; coordinating with departments to gather required data and materials; assisting departments with grant writing as requested; maintaining grant tracking and reporting systems; ensuring compliance with funding requirements; and helping develop strategies to increase external funding opportunities. The CEC also provides departments with guidance on data collection and tracking needed for successful grant applications. The CEC coordinates and supports Saline Countys day-to-day communications, public outreach, and community engagement efforts. Duties include managing announcements, newsletters, public information materials, website updates, social media, and educational content promoting County services, programs, and initiatives. The position ensures messaging is clear, consistent, accessible, professional, and aligned with County branding and communication standards while supporting departments and elected officials with communication guidance, templates, and outreach strategies. The CEC monitors communication effectiveness, tracks engagement metrics, recommends improvements, and maintains records of outreach and communication activities. The CEC coordinates and leads the Saline County Social Media Committee by providing direction, training, and support to department representatives while helping maintain a consistent voice, tone, and posting strategy across County platforms. The position reviews content for accuracy and professionalism and works with departments to translate technical information into clear public-facing communication. Requirements 1. 1. A Bachelors Degree with major course work in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, business, or related field preferred. Any combination of education and experience equal to the degree can be considered. Experience in cross-agency coordination is desirable. Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills along with familiarity with social media platforms, digital communication tools, and basic content creation software. Basic graphic design ability is required, including familiarity with tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or similar platforms. Must have a valid Drivers License and must provide own transportation. A minimum of two (2) years experience in grant writing, communications, public relations or a related field. Grant writing experience is preferable. Must have good communication skills to work with staff and the public in a professional and congenial manner. Must have a proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Must be flexible and be able to adapt to different tasks. Physical Requirements Determined Work Level: Level 2 Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Required walking or standing to a significant degree; or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of rm or leg controls. Including the ability to carry and assemble a sign/presentation that is no greater than 20 pounds. Other equipment includes laptops, bags, and camera equipment. Ability to communicate ideas by means of the spoken and/or written word. Must be able to give directions/assignments and interact with the public. Must have fine and gross manual dexterity to operate computer and telephone. Possesses eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to drive vehicle.
