About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Power Conversion Engineering, a pivotal leadership role in a groundbreaking nuclear fission startup. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of a power conversion system that efficiently transforms the heat generated by a nuclear reactor into usable electricity. This role is not about reinventing nuclear technology but rather about revolutionizing the speed and cost-effectiveness of its deployment. The Head of Power Conversion Engineering will take a subscale prototype through to full-scale nuclear deployment, with a focus on building a system that can be manufactured and deployed at a high rate. The ideal candidate will have a background in a fast-paced, high-ownership hardware environment, such as aerospace or space, and will be a proven leader with a strong engineering background in mechanical or electromechanical systems. Applicants for the Head of Power Conversion Engineering position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline, with a preference for those who have experience in fluid systems, thermal/thermodynamic systems, or rotating equipment. While a background in nuclear or power conversion engineering is not required, the company values candidates with a track record of rapid growth and the ability to make high-stakes decisions in a demanding, autonomous environment. The role demands a creative, multi-disciplinary problem solver with strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
