Establish and ensure adherence to best-practice policies and procedures. Develop, implement and manage best-practice material handling in support of shop floor lean manufacturing and lean logistics initiatives. Establish and implement methods and best practices related to systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control. Develop, implement, and track Materials Management metrics; perform root cause analysis and take actions to improve metrics that do not meet targets. Drive efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations including inventory management, staging, material handling, quality, and logistics. Develop operating guidelines, policies, and procedures for inventory and warehousing. Monitor inventory accuracy across locations and develop action plans to resolve issues and improve processes. Ensure inventory controls are in place at all locations. Represent the materials organization on corporate materials task force teams. Manage department budget, associated costs and resources. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to achieve cost-reduction targets. Select, evaluate, and manage employees to ensure efficient operations of the function. Participate as a member of the operations team in cross-functional decision making. Monitor cross-functional impact and contribute to operational performance improvements. Functional Knowledge & Leadership Demonstrates broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and practices. Business expertise with broad industry and commercial awareness to drive performance across the business unit, department, or sub-functions. Leads through subordinate managers and contributes to the development of strategy. Skills & Capabilities Problem Solving: directs resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems using advanced analytical thought and judgment. Impact: aligns with functional strategy to influence results and support other segments/functions. Interpersonal Skills: negotiates and influences at senior executive levels and external organizations; demonstrates audience awareness.
