Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Part Time

We have high needs in Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties, and our DSP pay scale starts at $21 per hour! At Better Together Supports (BTS), our Direct Support Professionals help children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) live more independently and participate fully in their communities. No experience? No problem. We provide paid training and ongoing support. What we’re really looking for are dependable, compassionate people who enjoy helping others and are committed to showing up for the individuals who rely on them. What You’ll Do As a DSP, you’ll provide one-on-one support in clients’ homes and in the community. Every client is different, but your responsibilities may include: Assisting with daily living activities such as dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility Encouraging independence while supporting each person’s individual goals Taking clients into the community for recreation, appointments, shopping, or other activities Building positive, trusting relationships with clients and their families Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating with your support team Responding calmly and professionally in challenging situations This is an active role that may require standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting individuals with mobility or behavioral support needs. Scheduling Most new DSPs begin with part-time schedules that commonly include: After-school hours (approximately 3:00 PM–6:00 PM) Evenings Holiday availability when needed Additional hours may become available as client needs grow. Qualifications At least 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent Eligible to work in the United States Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for positions requiring client transportation Ability to pass required background checksAbility to safely perform the physical requirements of the position No previous DSP experience is required. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, caregiving, education, healthcare, or customer service is a plus.
