Summary The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing. Licenses & Certifications Valid RN license in the state of employment. Valid CPR certification. Experience One year of nursing experience preferred. Job Functions Initiates and leads team conferences for individualized nursing care plans. Assesses and documents resident condition and nursing needs. Accurately and promptly implements physician orders. Assigns nursing care to team members according to resident needs and staff capabilities. Supervises, directs and evaluates LPNs, LVNs, and CNAs. Administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, and documents as required by company, local, state, and federal regulations. Participates in orientation and in‑service training for personnel. Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within scope of state Nursing Practice Act. Ensures supplies are used economically and equipment is maintained safely. Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents. Coordinates nursing care when residents are scheduled for therapy or procedures with other departments. Interviews applicants and recommends hires; participates in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, to the extent permitted by state practice act. Supervises nursing unit, including scheduling and directing nursing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act. Performs other tasks as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, and all levels of the organization. Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
