Job Description: Internal Accountant - Small Business Position Summary: We are on the search for a dedicated and highly motivated Internal Accountant to join our team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring smooth month-end closes, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. Beyond routine accounting duties, the position offers the opportunity to contribute to projects aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and increasing profitability. Key Responsibilities: Handle day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations. Maintain organized financial records in compliance with regulatory standards. Month-End Close: Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Reconcile accounts, verify data accuracy, and maintain the integrity of financial records. Prepare comprehensive financial and performance reports. Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Review and discuss financial reports with team members and owners, providing actionable feedback. Engage frequently with business owners and other team members to align financial strategies with operational goals. Provide financial insights to support business decisions and strategic planning. Process Improvement Projects: Utilize available time to spearhead projects that enhance operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability. Develop creative and strategic solutions to address challenges and improve systems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Strong understanding of financial principles, reporting, and reconciliation processes. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow instructions meticulously when required. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to solve problems and develop innovative solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with team members and leadership. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Intelligent and resourceful, with a keen analytical mindset. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Adaptable and open to learning, with a proactive approach to improvement and problem-solving. Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
