Project Manager/Estimator

Job Description The Project Manager/Estimator’s primary duty is to bid and secure construction projects. Once projects are awarded, the Project Manager/Estimator manages the contract work from start to finish including scheduling, cost containment, monitoring progress, compliance, and client contact. Key Responsibilities Seek out and complete bid opportunities through client relationships, networking, public/private postings, and assigned bid opportunities. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential clients. Estimate projects for bid submittal by reviewing plans and specifications, calculating quantities, gathering quotes and submittals, constructing the bid, and creating the bid submittal. Coordinate pre‑construction meetings for awarded projects to ensure communication between project managers, field, and office support. Work with operations staff to coordinate appropriate construction methods and staffing needs. Obtain necessary permits and licensing. Manage costs by tracking labor, equipment, and materials and manage billing with Project Coordinators to ensure accurate invoicing, preparation of payables, accounts receivable collections, and timely approval of accounts payable. Communicate and be responsible for meeting EEO/DBE project requirements. Ensure all aspects of the project are safely, on/under budget, and within the required timeframe. Use resources to troubleshoot any project issues that may arise. Seek approval for all project change orders before work is completed and manage changes to scope to maintain profitability. Coordinate efforts and communication with the project owner/general contractor to work toward safe and timely completion and adjust scope or timelines as needed. Inform Leadership of all matters of relative importance. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 5 years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated proficiency with construction bidding and project management software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with MS Teams is desirable but not required. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate information to all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, clients, and/or regulatory agencies. Ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of situations and events and respond accordingly. Ability to seek counsel when needed and use a variety of resources. Ability to develop and nurture lasting client relationships. Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software is preferred. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record. Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen. Occasional travel and overnight stays to jobsites outside of office location area (10%). Physical Demands The employee is required to stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time (50%+); use a computer/laptop/iPad in an office environment; and occasionally attend off‑site meetings. Work Environment Work is primarily in an office environment but requires jobsite travel. The employee frequently works alone and with others, and may encounter variable work environments, including moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment, electrical hazards, and environmental conditions such as rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat. Hearing protection is provided/required in high noise areas.
