Oakley - Mold Tech II

GENERAL FUNCTION

Maintain high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Read and understand tooling drawings and follow instructions. Ensure correct disassembly and assembly of molds in a safe and timely manner. Clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed. Work to a schedule and meet deadlines promptly. Maintain a clean and well‑organized work area. Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore micrometers. Assist in monitoring processes to keep a reasonable component inventory in stock. Reduce machine downtime. Maintain all tools and equipment, including daily cleaning of tool room machinery. Maintain records in the computerized maintenance management system. Work independently with little or no supervision when given clear direction. Collaborate with Process Engineers to troubleshoot tool or process issues and improve solutions. Operate a surface grinder within +/- 0.0002 on critical details. Operate a Bridgeport/Lathe within +/- 0.001 tolerance. Apply knowledge of manifold systems such as Mold Master, Synventive, etc. Polish and bench details, fit new details and spot‑in as required. Diagnose and repair issues in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. 1 to 3 years of hands‑on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or maintenance. Team player with strong educational and sharing skills. Knowledge of mold and die components and their characteristics. Ability to read and understand tooling drawings. Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Willingness to learn new technologies. Capability to handle multiple concurrent projects. Initiative and proactive work ethic. Availability to work more than 8 hours a day, including weekends and holidays as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Toolmaking certificate with experience in die cast or plastic injection molding. 5 to 8 years of hands‑on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or maintenance. 3 to 5 years of experience using hand‑operated tool room equipment. Experience with SAP or other CMMS; prototype toolmaking experience preferred. Injection molding process experience. Toolmaker/Mold Maker journeyman certification preferred. Trade school or college education. Must own or be able to obtain basic hand tools required. Pay Range: $28.81 - $42.53 This posting is for an existing vacancy within our business.
