Youth and Family Services Coordinator - Administrator IV

This position is open only to Colorado state residents. Division of Youth Services 4255 S. Knox Court, Denver, CO 8023 Weekly Hybrid Working Arrangements: Minimum 2 days in office and maximum 3 days remote work. Position Overview This position serves as the family engagement authority regarding services provided across the Division of Youth Services continuum including program and policy development and problem solving when conflicts arise. It is instrumental in giving youth and families a voice in Division-wide change initiatives and policies, supports new avenues of inclusion of families, and provides professional development opportunities for staff. The role works to establish relationships with families and collaborates with CDHS agency partners to best serve our youth and families. Key Responsibilities Youth Engagement & Support Implement the risk, needs, and responsivity approach related to youth and family services. Design and monitor case management tools and forms. Provide guidance to Juvenile justice processes required for Aggravated Juvenile Offenders (AJO), Violent Offenders, and Offense Specific youth. Work with family support systems and representatives. Conduct motivational interviewing. Maintain ongoing family engagement. Recruit and connect with community providers and other state agencies involved with youth and families. Apply laws and rules related to the provision of Children’s Code and DYS policies. Advocate for youth rights and responsibilities. Enforce policy related to family engagement, involvement, and/or visitation. The position is a leadership role and representative of the Central Office on committees and workgroups related to family engagement throughout the DYS continuum. It conveys decisions to the Regional Services Administrator and Regional Leadership Team and facilitates next steps and addendums for both DYS and families. DYS Representation & Family Engagement Participates with external committees that partner with DYS or operate within CDHS. Articulates DYS procedures and practices to external partners. Participates in community forums to inform the public about regionally based programs. Provides support to families that contract with DYS and assists other families. Represents DYS on external and internal committees specific to family engagement. Works with external agencies and other CDHS partnering divisions. Works within regions and youth centers to prepare for community reentry. Collaborates with transition specialists at youth centers to support youth and families. Coordinates development and oversight of consistent youth and family centered practices statewide. Collaborates with family representatives on the Family Advisory Council and Family Support Groups. Supports families in understanding the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) process and meeting support. Facilitates the Family Engagement committee, a combination of DYS professionals, CDHS representation, and family members. Works closely with the Regional Services Administrator to understand DYS and CYDC initiatives and procedures. Shadows and becomes familiar with interactions between CDYC and DYS staff and families. Builds trust with families and seeks engagement and feedback from Family Support Groups and Family Advisory Councils. Change Management & Staff Authority Implement change management principles around youth and family support within DYS youth centers, regions, and CYDC. Lead change initiatives in collaboration with regional and youth center representatives. Create curriculum for DYS staff with family engagement. Coach and guide champions during change implementation. Provide on-site support to youth and families staff during change initiatives. Policy and Procedure Development Analyze, review, consolidate, and streamline Division policy specific to youth and family engagement. Develop an organized approach to communicating DYS updates and supporting families of both detained and committed youth. Maintain an understanding of CYDC case management and DYS client management systems. Other Duties as Assigned Other duties that may arise during day-to-day operations. Support transition services at youth centers to prepare youth and families for re-integration. Provide support to families in parole hearings. Maintain parole radios and Colorado State Patrol contract. Minimum Qualifications Experience Only: Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years. Preferred Qualifications Experience in case management and/or working within the Juvenile Justice System. Knowledge of the Children’s Code and DYS policies. Experience working with families in the community and/or in out-of-home placements. Knowledge of Google Office. Group facilitation skills preferred. Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care and/or Response. Continued employment contingent upon successful completion of the DYS Pre-service Training Academy, Field Training Program (FTO), and mandatory annual training.
