We are looking for a Grant Accountant to support a nonprofit organization in Vancouver, Washington. This contract opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage grant-related financial activity with accuracy, accountability, and respect for funding requirements. In this role, you will help maintain reliable financial records, support reporting obligations, and contribute to sound fiscal operations that align with donor and grant expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare grant-related financial statements and other reporting deliverables to support funding compliance and internal decision-making.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate and current financial records.

• Review and authorize accounts payable activity to ensure expenses are coded properly and align with grant and organizational guidelines.

• Assist with audit readiness by organizing documentation, responding to support requests, and helping maintain clean financial records.

• Track grant funding, monitor allowable spending, and help ensure resources are used in accordance with award terms and donor intent.

• Record journal entries and support accrual-based accounting processes to ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities.

• Collaborate with internal teams to clarify financial information, resolve issues, and support effective stewardship of nonprofit funds.

• Use accounting and reporting systems, including tools such as Abila MIP and Microix when applicable, to manage financial data and grant administration tasks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Experience in accounting roles with increasing responsibility, preferably including grant or fund-based accounting duties.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, including hands-on experience with accrual accounting.
• Working knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour requirements, and related taxes or benefits administration.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets effectively.
• Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Abila MIP is preferred and nonprofit accounting system knowledge is highly valued.
• Strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships across teams.
