Certified Medical Assistant - Urgent Care Northwest

Overview The Certified Medical Assistant is accountable for assisting the providers in front and back‑office procedures. The incumbent has the added responsibility of providing a direct liaison between provider and patient, making certain that the appropriate provider has addressed any patient questions or concerns. This position may float to various sites within the health system. The role is integral to the patient’s care team, working side‑by‑side with clinicians and nurses. The assistant will perform rooming tasks, review medications, set goals, educate patients, track and coordinate test results, remind patients of overdue health maintenance, and support the Medical Home Care Team in delivering optimal patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Assist the provider in back‑office duties including escorting patients from the waiting room to the examination room promptly; taking vital signs per guidelines; maintaining examination room stock; documenting all patient communications; preparing lab specimens; completing referral forms; obtaining authorizations; scheduling test appointments; prioritizing phone calls and filing them into patient charts; and administering treatments and medications per provider orders in accordance with policies. Maintain professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with patients of all ages, families, physicians, office staff, and other health‑care providers to collect accurate demographic, clinical and financial information in person or by telephone. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and third‑party reimbursement requirements. For the specified departments, perform orthopedic bracing and casting tasks: apply casts, splints, and braces; fit them for comfort; trim, split or remove casts; adjust braces per physician specifications; document and educate patients; provide cast care instructions; fit and instruct on crutches and other mobilization aids; stock and clean exam rooms; inventory specialty items; maintain tools and equipment; set up fluoroscopy machines; coordinate with vendors; and prepare forms prior to physician review. Assist in operating rooms, inpatient units, and emergency rooms by applying splints, casts, or braces, modifying or splitting them, and instructing patients on cast care. Qualifications Education and Experience Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language (reading, writing, speaking). Multi‑physician office practice experience highly preferred. Licenses Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant. If not held, must submit an application within 90 days of employment (excluding certain departments listed). Certifications Current AHA BLS required within 90 days. At hire must obtain and maintain one of the following: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – NHA; Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – AMCA; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – AAMA; National Certified Medical Assistant – NCCT; Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant – NAHP; Registered Medical Assistant – AMT or AAH; National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT); State of Nevada EMT certification (basic, advanced, paramedic). Additional DOT or Non‑DOT drug‑testing certifications may be required at time of hire. Computer / Typing Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.
