Job DescriptionSolar Foreman / Project Manager – Lead Utility-Scale & Commercial PV Installations with PSG Energy Services\n\nJob Overview:\n\n Company: PSG Energy Services\n Salary/Pay Rate: $95,000 to $105,000 per year\n Location: Nationwide Travel\n Job/Employment Type: Full Time\n Project Scope: Commercial and Utility-Scale Solar PV Projects\n Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License\n\n\nThe Opportunity: \nYou will serve as the primary on-site leader managing commercial and utility-scale solar PV installations nationwide. This hands-on role gives you complete site ownership to direct subcontractors, solve complex engineering challenges, and ensure high-quality execution from mobilization through commissioning.\n\nHow You Will Make an Impact:\n\n Field & Project Management\n Serve as the primary on-site representative for solar construction projects.\n Manage daily construction activities from mobilization through substantial completion and closeout.\n Direct and coordinate subcontractors, electricians, equipment operators, testing contractors, and other trades.\n Develop and manage daily and weekly work plans to maintain the project schedule.\n Track manpower, production, equipment, deliveries, and overall construction progress.\n Identify schedule risks and field issues early and develop corrective action plans.\n Coordinate site activities with the Project Manager, engineering team, customer, utility, AHJ, and other stakeholders as required.\n Lead daily subcontractor coordination and planning meetings.\n Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photographs, manpower counts, and construction documentation.\n Review subcontractor work against contract scope and identify out-of-scope work or potential change-order conditions.\n Assist with project turnover, punch lists, commissioning, inspections, and final closeout.\n Solar Construction\n Supervise installation of commercial rooftop, carport, and ground-mount PV systems.\n Understand and oversee:\n PV module installation\n Ballasted and mechanically attached rooftop racking\n Ground-mount racking and foundations\n DC string wiring and wire management\n Combiner boxes and DC equipment\n Inverters and power conversion equipment\n AC collection systems\n Disconnects and switchgear\n Transformers\n Underground conduit and trenching\n Grounding and bonding\n Equipment pads and foundations\n Communications and monitoring systems\n Rapid shutdown systems\n Verify equipment installation meets manufacturer requirements, approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.\n Understand equipment clearances, mounting requirements, environmental requirements, conduit entry requirements, sealing, drainage, and equipment protection.\n Perform or oversee basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.\n Coordinate startup, commissioning, testing, and utility/PTO activities.\n Safety Responsibilities\n Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce all company and site-specific safety requirements.\n Conduct daily pre-task planning and Job Hazard Analysis/JSA meetings.\n Verify subcontractors are following approved safety plans and procedures.\n Identify unsafe conditions and immediately stop work when necessary.\n Understand electrical hazards associated with energized PV systems.\n Maintain appropriate OSHA documentation and site safety records.\n Coordinate LOTO procedures when required.\n Understand fall protection, excavation safety, equipment operation, electrical safety, and PPE requirements.\n Immediately document and report incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns.\n Quality Control\n Inspect work continuously rather than waiting until project completion to identify deficiencies.\n Verify construction against:\n IFC drawings\n Electrical one-lines\n Equipment layouts\n Structural drawings\n Manufacturer installation manuals\n Project specifications\n NEC requirements\n Approved submittals\n Maintain project punch lists and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.\n Verify proper equipment mounting, torque requirements, grounding, wire management, labeling, conduit installation, weatherproofing, and sealing.\n Document concealed work before it is covered.\n Maintain photographs and records sufficient to document construction quality.\n Coordinate required testing and commissioning documentation.\n\n\nRequired Qualifications & Experience:\n\n 5+ years of commercial or utility-scale solar construction experience preferred.\n Previous experience as a Solar Foreman, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Construction Manager, or Solar Project Manager strongly preferred.\n Strong understanding of commercial PV electrical and mechanical installation.\n Ability to read and interpret:\n Construction drawings\n Electrical one-lines\n Three-line diagrams\n Site plans\n Equipment layouts\n Structural details\n Manufacturer installation manuals\n Project specifications\n Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it applies to solar PV installations.\n Understanding of AC and DC electrical systems.\n Knowledge of commercial solar inverters, disconnects, switchgear, transformers, racking systems, and monitoring equipment.\n Ability to identify improper installation methods and quality issues.\n Strong construction sequencing and scheduling skills.\n Experience managing subcontractors and field crews.\n Ability to manage multiple trades and work activities simultaneously.\n Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.\n Ability to make sound field decisions while recognizing when engineering or management approval is required.\n Strong written and verbal communication skills.\n Ability to communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, utilities, and internal management.\n Comfortable using computers, tablets, email, Microsoft Office, PDF drawings, and construction/project-management software.\n Ability to maintain organized project documentation.\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications & Experience:\n\n OSHA 30 certification.\n NFPA 70E training.\n First Aid/CPR certification.\n NABCEP certification or solar-specific training.\n Electrical background or electrical license.\n Experience with commercial rooftop and ground-mount solar.\n Experience with SolarEdge, CPS, APS, or similar commercial inverter platforms.\n Experience with IronRidge, EcoFoot, Unirac or similar racking systems.\n Experience coordinating utility interconnections and commissioning.\n Experience operating or supervising operation of forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, lifts, and other construction equipment.\n\n\nLeadership Expectations\nThe Solar Foreman / Project Manager is expected to take ownership of the job site.\nThe successful candidate must be able to:\n\n Lead crews and subcontractors firmly and professionally.\n Hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and workmanship.\n Anticipate problems instead of simply reporting them after they occur.\n Develop solutions to field problems and communicate them quickly.\n Keep management informed of project status, risks, delays, and major decisions.\n Protect completed work and owner property.\n Maintain an organized and professional job site.\n Understand when field changes require engineering approval.\n Represent the company professionally with customers and project stakeholders.\n Remain productive and organized while working independently with limited day-to-day supervision.\n\n\nTravel Requirements\nExtensive nationwide travel is required for this position.\n\n Candidate should expect to travel approximately 50-75% of the time, depending on project workload.\n Projects may require being away from home for multiple consecutive weeks.\n Overnight stays and extended project assignments are expected.\n Some weekend travel may be necessary based on project schedules.\n Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.\n Must be comfortable traveling by vehicle and commercial airline.\n Must be flexible regarding project location and changing construction schedules.\n\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\n Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.\n Ability to walk active construction sites and uneven terrain for extended periods.\n Ability to climb ladders and access commercial rooftops when required.\n Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials and equipment as necessary.\n Ability to work around heavy equipment and active electrical construction.\n Ability to perform work at heights while using required fall-protection
