Mass General Brigham Research Laboratory Position

The Mouro Pinto Laboratory in the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic candidate to join our research group. This position does not require patient care. Essential functions include performing laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures, preparing and handling samples, reagents, and solutions, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, recording experimental data accurately, compiling and analyzing data, assisting in data interpretation and presentation, and maintaining a laboratory notebook. Additionally, the role involves assisting with mouse colony maintenance, animal handling, and performing dissections.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study, with the possibility of experience being accepted in lieu of a degree. Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment, is preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques, familiarity with common laboratory equipment, proficiency in data collection and analysis, excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The research group has a strong interest in rare neurodegenerative genetic disorders, particularly those caused by unstable microsatellite repeats, such as Huntington's disease and Friedreich ataxia. A major focus of our research is the characterization of the mechanisms responsible for repeat instability in the context of such diseases, as potential therapeutic targets.

This position is onsite at 185 Cambridge Street, with a scheduled weekly hours of 40. The work shift is day. The pay range is $21.00 - $29.01/Hourly.
