Senior Manager, Business Development and Finance Solutions HCU: Well-funded Healthcare Startup Department: Business Development and Finance | Reports To: President | Employment Type: Full-time Direct Reports: None initially; the position is expected to grow with the Company POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Manager, Business Development and Finance, is a full-time position at the center of strategy, deals, and corporate finance at a well-capitalized healthcare startup establishing a network of medical products manufacturing plants in the United States. The role supports corporate strategy and the Company's commercial pipeline: market and competitive analysis, evaluation and structuring of partnerships and commercial agreements, and the business case for new products and future facilities. On the finance side, the role owns the Company's multi-year project budget model for the buildout of its first manufacturing facility, covering construction and capital equipment costs, financing, depreciation, detailed operating expenses, and a revenue build as the facility comes online. The position reports to the President, works daily with senior leadership, and offers unusual breadth and responsibility for its level. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Business Development and Strategy Support corporate strategy, including market entry, product line, and capacity expansion decisions. Conduct market, customer, and competitive analysis to inform the Company's commercial strategy. Support deal work across the commercial pipeline: evaluating, structuring, and negotiating partnerships, customer contracts, and other commercial agreements. Build business cases for new products, capacity expansion, and future manufacturing facilities. Develop customer and partner relationships, including preparation of materials, financial analysis, and follow-through on executed agreements. Prepare presentations for prospective customers, partners, and senior leadership. Finance and Planning Design and build a multi-year project budget model with monthly granularity, covering facility construction, startup, and initial operations. Develop construction and capital equipment cost schedules, including milestone-based payment timing and multi-currency purchases. Build depreciation tables by asset class and in-service date, with flow-through to the income statement. Model the debt financing component, including draws, interest, fees, and repayment schedules. Prepare detailed operating expense and headcount plans and a revenue build reflecting production ramp, volume, and pricing assumptions. Maintain scenario and sensitivity analysis, reconcile the model to the Company's cash forecasting and capital expenditure tracking tools, and support budget versus actual reporting as operations begin. Prepare financial materials for senior leadership and external parties, applying consistent, professional formatting so all work product is accurate, attractive, and easy to follow. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA strongly preferred. Four to six years of professional experience. Candidates with private equity backgrounds, investment banking, financial planning & analysis, or corporate development preferred. Demonstrated experience building complete financial models from a blank workbook, not solely maintaining models built by others. Finalists will be asked to walk through a model they built personally. Experience with manufacturing, construction, or other capital-intensive projects strongly preferred. Healthcare or medical products industry experience a plus. Experience applying AI tools in financial and analytical work, particularly Claude, a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Technical Advanced Excel modeling with disciplined architecture: consistent structure, clear separation of inputs, calculations, and outputs, and formulas built for auditability Project finance and three-statement modeling, including debt schedules and interest calculations Revenue and operating expense build-ups tied to defensible volume, pricing, and staffing drivers Strong presentation and slide development skills for executive and partner audiences Professional Exceptional attention to detail; work product will be reviewed closely by senior leadership and external parties Clear, concise written and verbal communication with executives and commercial counterparties Sound business judgment and the ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear analysis Self-directed, with the initiative to scope work, surface open questions early, and meet deadlines COMPENSATION AND GROWTH Competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience.
